Reviving Childhood Fashion Staples!!

IMG_2819.PNGThe current fashion trend is flooded with reminiscences of the 90’s! I’m a big fan of dungarees since childhood, Dungarees are back into the catwalk at runways, celebrity closet and are a street style staple. I personally adore dungarees as the level of comfort is raised to infinity whenever I am in them! Dungarees bring about the old school vibe like none other!

Dungarees have some fascinating history which I found while doing a little research on my outfit today. I’m thrilled to share!!

In the17th century, dungarees were first mentioned in a dockside village named “Dongri” located in Mumbai. In Hindi, it was called as “dungri”. For manufacturing purposes, it was exported to England where Englishmen began to call dungri as “dungaree’’. Originally dungarees were used as protective clothing by farmers, slaves, and laborers. They became popular amongst workers as they were durable and inexpensive and for the same reason carried a stigma of low status. However, this trend gradually changed when women began wearing dungarees during the First World War as it was the perfect outfit for those working in factories and needed protective clothing like men. They appeared back in fashion in the 40’s and 50’s initially with children wear and since then, dungarees have been quite eminent and IN and OUT of fashion.

Oh! I am wearing dungarees sourced from stalkbuylove, with a simple yellow tee, paired with white sneakers!
