I have plenty of choices when it comes to my wardrobe, but having additional choices means my wardrobe is swamped with clothes. And most of us do end up hoarding clothes like no-one’s business. But unhappily, we end up putting those untouched attires into the dark hole of all things excluded. Removing the unused and ill-fitting outfits is the best way to make sense of the stuff in your wardrobe and make space for the essential pieces which will make it easy to pull together an outfit, whatever the occasion. Fortunately, Diwali is fast approaching and there’s no better excuse to freshen up your wardrobe than during this time for a change.
Trends come and go and reappear. But the ones I am going to tell you about have stood the test of time and will help to save the day and be stylish always. I suggest these wardrobe staples should be a part of every girl’s wardrobe.
Ready to get back to essentials for your closet?
A PLAIN WHITE T-SHIRT
There is nothing more versatile than this trusted staple! One can layer this perfect t-shirt over a tank top, or dress it up with a pair of denim cutoffs, or tuck it into a skirt. This staple offers a seamless makeover from season to season as well as it also poses a casual, off-duty look to any ensemble.
My Favourite Pick: White shirt Brand: Mango
Every woman needs a pair of black pants which will make her feel good. You can go for high-waist or low-rise, wide-leg or cropped depending on individual’s choice. Team it up with a beautiful silk blouse which is somewhat loose and not clingy and can be worn on weekends as well as at work too.
My Favourite Pick: Brand: CODE Lifestyle
LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Ah, the little black dress! Need I say more? Black is elegant and modish, perfect for any occasion. The LBD has been a fashion staple for years and is evergreen. It’s a must-have for all occasions.
A classic blue or black denim is an absolute must-have in any closet. It is one of the major building blocks of any wardrobe. For people working in non-corporate areas denim work as a perfect option.
WHITE BUTTON-UP SHIRT
The white button-up shirt: one of my favourite go-to outfits when in doubt ”what to wear”. An absolute versatile piece. Team it with long skirts, short skirts or denim.
Perfect for your boardroom meetings or evening parties. Dress it up with solid coloured tops for work wear, and for some oomph add a jacket.
A leather jacket is an added advantage to any outfit and gives a new texture altogether. A classic biker jacket will never go out of style and you can wear it year-round, and two. Go ahead and splurge for this outerwear essential.
SOLID COLORED BLOUSES/TOPS
I personally choose colours overprints as they allow to mix and match easily and help me create a big wardrobe around it. You can go for all possible colours that u love!
Another important wardrobe staple, the cardigan, is a must-have for every woman. Although I don’t reach for a cardigan as frequently as few other pieces in my wardrobe, I still believe one in a neutral shade is a crucial part of a complete closet. Go for the basic or neutral colour cardigans which can be worn for spring as well as winter season.
A CLASSIC LEATHER BELT
A classic leather belt goes well with everything. Team it up with your pair of denim, a formal suit or with a bright summery dress.
Black pumps are the nattiest and reliable choice when it comes to shoes, they are well-matched to almost any outfit and occasion.
A medium size handbag with multiple compartments is essential. Crossbody bag is the perfect one as compared to tote bag which is bigger in size or a clutch which is too small. Moreover, grab a bright colour and add a punch to your style.
